304 or 316: Which Should You Choose?
Many buyers default to 316 stainless steel wire mesh, believing that a higher grade means greater security. Sometimes this is indeed correct. However, if your medium is chlorine-free and the temperature does not exceed 150°C, 304 stainless steel wire mesh is perfectly adequate, and you’ll save costs with each repeat purchase. Ordinary woven mesh has the same opening size in both directions. Dutch woven mesh uses thicker weft threads to tighten the openings, resulting in finer filtration accuracy and a thicker, more pressure-resistant structure. When both fine particle retention and pressure resistance are required, Dutch woven mesh is a better choice.
